Pasadena: Privately Printed at the Ward Ritchie Press, 1939. First edition, limited, one of 150 copies, this inscribed, signed, & dated by the author at the first blank page. Octavo (9.5" x 6.5"), xiv, 350, & [2] pages, indexed. With a frontis portrait, 3 double-page maps and 21 other plates (2 in color). Original blue cloth lettered & decorated in gilt.

Spine & margins sunned, hint of fraying at the top of the spine, front hinge started (still secure), lightly foxed & toned (mostly at early & lated leaves), small stain affecting rear pastedown & blanks, otherwise Very Good.

An insightful biography written by the son of DeWitt Clinton Poole. Poole served in the Civil War with the Wisconsin Volunteers & afterward with the Freedman's Bureau in Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, he was an Indian agent at the Whetsone Agency in the Dakota Territory.
