Griffith film *America* featuring Neil Hamilton, Carol Dempster and Lionel Barrymore. Scenes from the costly film, Griffith's last great silent epic, were shown to virtually every school-age child in America's major cities for several decades. The romantic plot of the film actually had little to do with Chambers' original novel but the author, a good friend of the director who also provided the film's titles, wrote this entirely different novel for the photoplay edition.
