Complete 1st American edition devoted to New England, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Vol. I has a frontis engraving of the author, smaller text illustrations throughout. Brown cloth binding with shallow chipping at spine ends and pencilled notations inside front covers with private home made bookplate inside cover of Vol. II. Foxing to extremities throughout, faint shallow old dampstain of approximately 1/4"-3/8" deep at top of each volume. Overall a solid and clean copy of a scarce work with strong gilt spine titling. Great content including material on slavery, temperance, Indians, abolitionism, religion, education, commerce, travel etc. Howe's 921.
