About This Item

New York: Del Rey / Ballantine Books, 2003. First American Edition. Winner of the Philip K. Dick Award for best original paperback SF book of 2003 in its U.S. edition, this violent, fast-paced first novel is a prime example of latter-day cyberpunk. In a world in which everyone's mind is stored in a digitized "cortical stack," makng it possible to "resleeve" people into new bodies, natural or accidental death is virtually unknown. Super-agent Takeshi Kovacs is "resleeved" into a cop's body and sent to investigate the murder of a prominent citizen, but if he is to succeed, he must first survive a number of violent attacks by unknown assailants, not to mention an encounter with a police officer who used to love the original owner of his new body" (Barron, Anatomy of Wonder II-787). First Printing, a trade paperback original. Octavo (23.5cm); original glossy pictorial card wrappers; [viii],[3].4-375,[1]pp. A Fine copy, unread and without wear.
