London: The Alpine Club, 1898. 1st Edition. Printed Wrapper. Very Good/No Jacket Issued. 1st Printing The May 1898 issue of the Alpine Journal. Original pale green wrappers with black lettering front & spine & rear. Clean covers, small area of wear very bottom of spine otherwise and exceptionally well preserved example, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, clean, complete, very minor foxing in the margins of a few pages (most pages have no foxing), solid binding. This issue has a lengthy account of first ascents in the Canadian Rockies with Norman Collie & Fay by Harold B. Dixon. PLUS an article by Filippo de Filippi on the Duke of Abruzzi's first ascent of Mount St Elias (2 Vittorio Sella photo plates + 1-page map). PHOTO IS OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED..
