[ALMANAC.] Almanach pacifique ou l'Ecole de la vertu, tiré des plus beaux endroits de l'Ecriture sainte. Partis, Janet Foreur. [1793].

24mo (98 x 64mm), pp. 24 of text, with pp. 24 of monthly profit and loss accounts, and twelve hand-coloured engraved plates; contemporary embroidered pale pink silk binding over binder's board; sides with outer frame of a fine silver metal scroll held by zigzagging thread; gilt thread decoration punctuated with multi-coloured sequins surrounding central motif of wheatsheaf on upper board, and a mandolin bow and quiver surmounted by a double heart on lower board; smooth spine, with a little surface wear; coloured Brokatpaper endpapers, salmon taffeta gusseted pocket on lower cover;

A charming near miniature almanac in a well preserved embroidered binding. The almanac is illustrated with twelve brightly hand-coloured engraved plates, accompanying the Bible stories in verse. Particularly impressive is the plate accompanying the story of the Tower of Babel.

The text which includes some printed music also allows room for 24 ruled and headed pages for monthly accounts.

Grand-Carteret 1100 (éd. 1793); OCLC lists Morgan, Huntington, and BL.

Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Extra-Illustrated Copy in Beautiful 'Cosway' Binding by Bayntun-Riviere This stunning, extra-illustrated book on celebrated courtesan and author Ninon de Lenclos is housed in a stunning, Cosway-style binding by Bayntun Riviere. Bound in full brown crushed morocco, spine with raised bands, oval portrait of Ninon de Lenclos at the height of her beauty inset under glass in front cover, spine and both covers beautifully tooled with stylized Art Nouveau flower designs (probably fuschias); gilt-tooled inner dentelles with floral designs at corners, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Description:
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons / The Knickerbocker Press, 1927. Half-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. Corners a bit rubbed, boards faintly soiled, ink date and owner bookplate of Robert N. Cherry on front flyleaf. 1927 Half-Leather. iv, 325 pp. 8vo. No binder's ticket, but appears to be a contemporary custom rebinding: blue leather spine and corners over blue cloth, gilt titles and rules, top edge gilt, new end sheets. "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of an autobiography ever written. Franklin's account of his life is divided into four parts, reflecting the different periods at which he wrote them.
