The 'Almanach généalogique' was an 18th-century French periodical almanac published in Berlin complete with, as could be expected, phases of the moon for the year, calendars and notable days of each month, times of the sun, eclipses, and much more. However, what sets this almanac apart from others from this era is the inclusion of fine, full-page portraits of various European royals. This 1791 edition contains portraits of some of the following:
• Frederic II the Great, King of Prussia
• Elizabeth Christine, of Prussia
• Frederick William I of Prussia
• Sophie Dorothee of Prussia
• Frederick II's brothers and sisters, princes and princesses of Prussia
It also features an lengthy history of Prussia and the Prussian Empire focusing on the years 1412 through 1640 complete with illustrated scenes of political events.
