About This Item
New York, Doubleday & Company,, 1980. First edition, first printing. Vreeland's place in the history of 20th Century fashion is almost unparalleled. As the fashion editor of Harpers she wielded great influence but it was as editor in chief of Vogue that her power was most widely expressed. This collection of images by many of the century's greatest photographers is her testimony to one of the most potent social and artistic aspects of the modern age. Folio. Original red cloth, titles to front cover and spine gilt, photographic endpapers. With dust jacket. Hundreds of photographic illustrations many full page by Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Baron De Meyer, Horst, Irving Penn and Edward Steichen. Contemporary gift inscription to the half-title. Minor wear to corners. An excellent copy in a price-clipped, faintly toned jacket with a short closed tear to head of spine and some minor creasing to extremities.
