About This Item

The All-Union Printing Exhibition was opened on September 15, 1927 in Moscow on Krymsky Val, on the territory of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition in the Main House. The design of the exhibition was carried out by El Lisitsky, who in the 1920s and 1930s took part in many exhibition projects, approving new principles of the exposition. Lisitsky, in fact, invented exhibition design as a new kind of artistic activity, and his experiments on the design of the exhibition space became the prototype of Western museums of modern art.

The All-Union Printing Exhibition of 1927 showed the achievements and summed up the results for the first decade of Soviet power in the field of the printing industry. The purpose of the first collection was to give a description of Soviet printing enterprises and provide samples of their achievements. At the time of the opening of the exhibition, materials were received from 15 organizations, from the cities of Vologda, Kazan, Kiev, Moscow, Saratov, Tiflis, Kharkiv. Without pagination. With numerous samples of printing houses' products: color lithographs, sheet music, autotypes, engravings, maps, etc.

The condition is good, the block is mostly clean. A slight scuffing of the cover.
