Bound in publisher's original white boards with spine lettered in silver. Near Fine with light toning to pages and edges of covers, in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with is lightly rubbed and lightly shelf-worn. A lovely copy.
Synopsis
Cormac McCarthy is an American novelist and playwright. He has also written plays and screenplays. This novel, All The Pretty Horses , won the National Book Award in 1992. The story reads like a Western novel, but is set in 1949 and revolves around the life of a 16-year old Texan named John Grady Cole. After his parent’s marriage ends, he finds himself at the end of a long line of ranchers, without a family ranch to work. So he sets out for Mexico on horseback with two companions. By turns both comic and tragic, the elaborate character development and McCarthy’s superb descriptive style make this book a rare treat.

I love this book. The story is gripping and evokes all kinds of emotions. The chacters are so well developed you feel like you know them personally. Descriptions of the land they travel through bring to mind the dry and breathless heat of the desert. The action scenes come to life before your mind's eye. It is superb.

McCarthy does have a vivid descriptive style but the plot is predictable. Where did he get the title? Got so tired of the characters lighting up a cigaret.Don't quite understand why it got the National Book Award.
