Henry Morgenthau, Sr. (18656-1946) served as the United States Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during World War I, under President T. Woodrow Wilson had a successful career as a lawyer, real estate investor, and the Reform Jewish community leader in New York City.
This work by Morgenthau is the definitive account of the Armenian Genocide during the last years of the Ottoman Empire, as well as his views on the creation of a Jewish State.
His son, Henry Morgenthau Jr. served as the Secretary of the Treasury for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. His grandson, Robert M. Morgenthau, would serve as the District Attorney for Manhattan for 35 years.
