About This Item
Angus and Robertson, London, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. 400 g; 248 pages, in original dark blue boards with silver titling. The dustjacket is rubbed across both top and bottom edges, with loss of colour at the fold over creases at the bottom and at the bottom of the spine, and the book has a 0.5 inch tear at the bottom right-hand corner of the rear panel. The protective laminate has lifted at the very edges. The right-hand margin of the front free end page is slightly yellowed. No other damage to report. "Eventually Maureen comes to realise that it is only the male of the species who has any license to choose his own terms, but her attempts to understand men fail because of her refusal to accept very much of her passive role as a woman." -- Rear panel blurb. "Later, however Angus and Robertson's legal staff decided that the risk of a libel suit succeeding was serious enough that not only should I use a pseudonym, but the novel should also be resited to Sydney. The publisher changed all the locations and I abandoned my own name for Elizabeth Riley" page 250 of the 2nd edition. Australia's 1st lesbian novel. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
