About This Item

Boston: G.K. Hall & Co, 1985. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Near Fine. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Soft cover. xiii, 412 pp., [8] p. B&W photos. Slight sunning and a few creases and scuffs to spine. Scuff to top edge of text block. Near fine overall. Ida Tarbell (1857-1944) was arguably the most admired woman in America in the early twentieth century. Her History of the Standard Oil Company set the standards for virtually all investigative reporting thereafter, and her best-selling biography of Abraham Lincoln shaped a public image of him that is still current. All in the Day's Work is both her autobiography and a fascinating record of her times, from pioneer lifestyles on the oil frontier in Pennsylvania to her days as a freelance journalist in Paris to her success as an editor and reporter in New York.
