About This Item

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1933. xiv, 251pp. Royal octavo. Bound in bright red cloth with gold gilt lettering stamped to the front board and spine; small black line drawing of a horse stamped to the front board beneath the title. Illustrated profusely throughout the text with line drawings. Some rubbing along the bottom edge of the boards; corners lightly bumped. Illustrated dust jacket has not been price clipped. Creasing and edgewear along the jacket's edges, with pieces missing from the head and tail of the spine. Toning to the jacket's spine and back panel. Inscription from Will James on ffep. Overall, a very good and inscribed copy. A personable and warm inscription to "Bill", with James signing off as "Bill James". Will James was a cowboy, cattle rustler, beloved author and artist of the American West. This a fairly scarce collection of stories by James, rarely seen in a good dust jacket. This is the first edition, with the Scribner's "A" on the publication page. 1933
