Hardcover, oblong octavo bound in blue cloth lettered in silver, lacking dust-jacket. 122 pages. Index. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and a map. First edition, with no other printings indicated on copyright page. A compendium of fifty-one civilian, commercial and military aircraft representing the state of American aviation just prior our entry into World War II. An early Gann title. He was "an American aviator, author, sailor, and conservationist. He is best known for his novels and memoirs about early aviation and nautical adventures. Some of his more famous aviation novels include The High and the Mighty and Island in the Sky, both of which were turned into Hollywood movies". No previous ownership marks. Light scuffing to front cover and somewhat heavier marking to rear cover. A clean, sound, internally unmarked copy, hinges strong, no writing or marking to text or illustrations. Not ex-library. A good or better copy. .
