THIS IS ONE OF THE ROUGHLY 500 OR SO COPIES WHICH INCLUDE THE LEAF SIGNED BY ALICE HARGREAVES (THE "ORIGINAL ALICE") AND IS ALSO SIGNED AT THE COLOPHON BY FREDERIC WARDE, who was responsible for the typography and the handsome morocco binding. Tight and VG+ in its full red leather, with lavish gilt-tooling and decoration to the panels. Internally, very clean, except for a faint, almost imperceptible abrading at the front panel (where a former owner bookplate had been professionally and cleanly removed). Octavo, all edges gilt, the legendary John Tenniel illustrations accompany the text. Lacking the publisher's slipcase. One of the unquestioned highspots in the illustrious history of the Limited Editions Club.
