Clean covers and spine; damp stain at cover and spine tail edge; tightly bound and square in case; damp stain at bottom inner corner of few prelim and terminal leaves; inscribed on title page 'For Kate | with all my | Love | Sue | 10-10-86'; otherwise clean interior with some age darkening along page edges. DJ is complete; clean but showing damp stain spine tail and cover lower inner corners. 8vo (20.5 cm), 191 pp. Inscription was to Kate Mattes, owner of a prominent Boston area bookstore.
Synopsis
"A" Is for Alibi is the first novel in the Kinsey Millhone series by crime writer Sue Grafton. It was published in 1982. The first printing of "A" Is for Alibi was 7,500 copies. Grafton based the story to some extent on her own 'fantasies' of murdering her then husband prior to divorce.
