About This Item
London: MacGibbon & Kee, 1966. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. A neat name on the front paste-down and minor bumping at the head of the spine otherwise a VG copy in like price-clipped D/W which is foxed on the verso and rubbed to the extremities. Laid in is a typed letter (signed Bill N) from the Authors Isle of Man address dated March 10, 1988 that mentions Alfie. Basis for the 1966 film, directed by Lewis Gilbert and featuring Michael Caine in the title role. Recently remade by Charles Shyer with Jude Law. (Note : The true first edition was published in 1966, NOT 1970 - as is commonly and wrongly claimed). A nice copy of a seminal 60s title
