Original purple cloth, gilt stamped, with initial "S" on the front cover. A very fine copy in the rare pictorial dust jacket, with illustration by F. Graham Cootes. This is Crane's jacket "b" issued in April 1912, shortly after publication. With the bookplate of M.B. Goldstone. Acquired by David Porter after the sale of Goldstone's collection at Bonhams in 2009. First Edition, First Printing, Second State (as always, first state is almost impossible to find) with 1912 date on title page in second issue dust jacket (within month of first) with correct blurbs, and $1.00 price on spine. Very Good in Good Dust Jacket Tight binding; clean pages and covers; cloth shows just the slightest bit of sunning; only slight wear. Dust Jacket is lightly foxed with several moderate tears repaired with tape on reverse causing some stains; chipping at spine ends. Very scarce in original dust jacket!

Original purple cloth, gilt stamped, with initial "S" on the front cover. A very fine copy in the very rare and fragile typographic dust jacket, split along front hinge fold but intact. The acidic jacket flaps have lightly stained the facing endpapers. This is Crane's jacket "A" issued upon publication on April 20, 1912, and used only briefly. It would shortly - before the end of the month - be replaced by a pictorial jacket. Crane A5.a.i.
