Honolulu: Alexander & Baldwin, 1950. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 8vo. Pp. [iv], v-xiv, [2], 3-245. Frontis. black & white photograph of the Alexander & Baldwin Ltd, building on Bishop Street in Honolulu. Illustrated throughout with two-color sketches and the occasional black & white photograph. Includes fold-out family tree of Alexander & Baldwin family relationships; that fold-out with a couple light stains. Endpapers decorated with facsimiles of various Alexander & Baldwin legal documents. Bound in blue cloth with silver lettering stamped on spine; vignette of the Alexander & Baldwin Ltd. building in silver on front cover. Sparse underlining in pink ink on eight pages. Inscribed on a front endpaper, 'With Compliments of "John C Caart" The underlining was perpetrated by the previous owner, a Vice President with the Bank of California, which did business with Alexander & Baldwin entities.

A history of the pioneering Hawaiian firm that was established by S. T. Alexander and H. P. Baldwin in 1869. The firm evolved and spun off several entities over the decades. At last check, ALEX, as the founding firm is known on the NYSE, was trading at $17 per share. Scarce.
