This leaf measures 8.5" x 12" It comes with a 1926 Society of Foliophiles descriptive card that reads, "A commentary on the Epigrams of Martial, together with a miscellany of other ancient authors. Of considerable literary interest, this work boasts the added and unusual distinction of coming from the great Aldine press two years before the death of its founder, Aldius Manutius, the most gifted, versatile and prolific printer of his day. Aldus, as it is well known, originiated the italic type, and nowhere is its adaptability to a closely printed work of learning better exemplified than on this page.
