Very near fine.. 8vo. 5.75 x 8.125 in. xviii, 362 pp. David Pingree's critical edition of the Greek version of Persian astrologer Abu Ma'shar al-Balkhi's work; including preface, critical apparatus, indexes, etc. Teubner's vermillion cloth, titles in black. Text in Greek, Preface in Latin. Teubner critical text, published as part of the Bibliotheca Scriptorum Graecorum et Romanorum Teubneriana. Signed by editor David Pingree 'with best wishes' on front flyleaf. This copy belonged to Daniel Henry Holmes Ingalls, Wales Professor of Sanskrit at Harvard University, with his distinctive owl bookplate to front pastedown.
