PO stamp to rear cover verso. LAID-IN: Article of Dr. Schweitzer by Anderson, from the Ladies Home Journal, Vol. LXXX, No. 10, Dec. 1963. Account of Erica Anderson's outstanding documentary of French physician Albert Schweitzer (1875 - 1965), winner of the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize --- 7 years in the making, filmed by Erica Anderson, the finished work won the 1958 Academy Award for the best documentary. Book is both a memoir of visits to film the good doctor at work in Lambarene, as well as an intimate portrait of the man. Their friendship continued beyond the film; on her death, Anderson was laid to rest at Lambarene.
