B/w pictorial endpapers. 12 tipped in colour plates with captioned tissue guards. B/w illustrations. Top edge gilt. Heavy bumping and wear to spine and corners. Uneven fading and some scuffing to covers. Front endpaper and prelim text page are detached, with chipping and creasing, but loosely inserted. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing. A few grubby margin marks. All plates are present - some tissue-guards are creased/detached. A reading copy.
