New York: Fowler and Wells, 1856. Hardcover, 5 x 7 1/2". 224 pp. plus advertisemenets. Dark gray cloth over boards with gilt lettering on spine and stamped design on cover, corner bumping with boards showing through, spine fraying on top and bottom and some stains to covers, some stains and foxing internally. Good+ condition. Not currently offered in the trade. This book is a compilation of a series of lectures by Rev. George Sumner Weaver (1818-?), who at different times in his life was a farmer, teacher, lawyer, phrenologist, and minister. Weaver was described as "an industrious worker in the temperance, educational and woman equality and all reformatory and elevating movements; and in all his work has given constant witness to the inspiring help he has received from phrenology, and has been a constant advocate of its essential truthfulness."
