About This Item
London : Faber & Faber, (1971). First edition. Evidently a review copy, a printed Faber slip loosely inserted "With the author's compliments" and with a typed date of publication. Four mesmeric and haunting "fables" on the author's native Guyana and its ethnic groups - Macusi, Arecuna, Wapisiana and Arawaks. With striking illustrations by Karen Usborne. Post 8vo (21cm). 104pp. Original deep orange cloth, ruled and lettered in gilt; a very good, clean, bright and sound copy in the Karen Usborne dust-jacket - very good, clean and unworn.
