About This Item

London, UK Macmillan and Company, 1928. Hardcover First Edition [1928], unstated. Very Good in Good DJ. Book shows minor indications shelving along bottom edge of cloth-covered boards; outside edges tanned with age; very slight spine lean. Binding is quite secure; text clean. DJ shows minor chip loss, a little heavier at the head of the backstrip; moderate wear to extremities; backstip dulled a bit, but the titles thereon remain bold and clearly legible; short closed tear at lower front face; faint smudges; light soiling; price intact; mylar-protected. Excellent copy in scarce dustjacket with some chipping at head of spine. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. pp.xxvi, 457 pages; frontispiece and 15 plates. First Edition [1928], unstated. Hardcover with dustwrapper. A personal history of the Gladstone family with a discussion of his father's (William Ewart Gladstone) controversial Eastern foreign policy. Written by his son, this literary work tells the story of Mr. Gladstone's life. He attempts to present a true and complete picture of his father's personality. The author gives his own views of Mr. Gladstone from his own personal knowledge, records and experience.
