A first edition copy of this illustrated two-volume supplement to 'With the Flag of Pretoria' by Herbert Wrigley Wilson. The first edition of this two-volume work in a quarter morocco binding with marbled end papers and edges. Binder's label of 'The Excelsior Bindings' to the front paste downs of both volumes.This two-volume set is the supplement to 'With the Flag of Pretoria', a historical study of the Boer War also written by Herbert Wrigley Wilson (1866-1940), a British journalist and naval historian. This work continues on the topic of the Boer War, starting from the Bethlehem Campaign in 1900 and ending with the Peace Negotiations in 1902. The Boer War was a conflict fought between the British Empire and the two Boer Republics over the Empire's influence in Southern Africa between 1899-1902.Illustrated with numerous black-and-white in-text illustrations from photographs and sketches. Collated, complete. In a quarter morocco binding. Externally sound, with rubbing to the spines and shelf wear to the extremities. Horizontal tear to the tail of the backstrip to Volume I. Both joints to both volumes are cracked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Good
