About This Item
London : Jonathan Cape, (1971). First edition : the scarce hardback issue. At that time probably better-known for his membership of "The Scaffold", and in particular "Lily the Pink", but here with his third solo collection of poems and already en route to becoming President of the Poetry Society. Forty-seven poems in three sequences - "There is the off-beat sense of humour and the compulsive juggling with sounds and appearances of words. But behind the smile is a very serious man with a highly individualistic perception, savagely satirical, and surprisingly lyrical" (Belfast Telegraph, 3rd December 1971). Demy 8vo (23cm). (72)pp. Original brown boards, blocked and lettered in gilt; tiny bruise to one corner; a few faint spots to front endpaper, but otherwise a very good, clean and sound copy in M. Mohan dust-jacket - the jacket, barring a handful of spots to front flap and the merest suggestion of rubbing to head, in excellent state.
