About This Item

Boston, Massachusettes: Roberts Brothers, 1897. Minor edge and corner wear, scuffed and scratched, spine is slightly discolored, corners are bumped and rubbed, gently shelf worn, former owner's library label is affixed to the inner cover and former owner's name in ink in two places on the ffep as well, overall a clean used first edition! Wonderfully well-preserved! Very very rare and out-of-print! Blue cloth with green lettering and gilt flowers on the front cover and gilt lettering on the spine. Extremely scarce and hard-to-find! 137 unmarked and uncreased, historical and spiritual pages! Frontis is a woodcut of Kate Field. "Our friendship had always seemed to me one made for heaven rather than for earth; as of a nature adapted to different conditions from those ordinarily prevailing here; and after the first bewildering agony ---- caused by the tidings of her death ---- was over, I began to realize how that subtle and curiously insistent telepathic communion between us seemed to adjust itself anew and became more clear and intense. But, ah, that first flash of bewildering pain! Will even eternity be long enough for its remembrance ever to be dimmed?." ---- from What Lacks the Summer? (Chapter One). First Edition / First Printing. Blue Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
