About This Item

Urbana, IL University of Illinois Press, 1988. Hardcover First Edition [1988]; Second Printing. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Very Good in Fine DJ: The Book a couple of small, very faint coffee-like stains to the top edge of the text block; the binding is a little cocked off square; else flawless; the binding is secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound - despite the cock to the spine - and tightly bound, showing beyond this a minor cosmetic imperfection. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Not far from 'As New'. The DJ is flawless; unclipped; mylar-protected. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.25 x 6.25 x 1.25 inches). 280 pages. Index. Language: English. Weight: 23 ounces. First Edition [1988]; Second Printing. Hardback with DJ. John F. Callahan is the literary executor for Ralph Ellison, and was the editor for his posthumously-released novel Juneteenth. In addition to his work with Ellison, Callahan has written or edited numerous volumes related to African-American literature, with a particular emphasis on 20th century literature. Callahan is the author of A Man You Could Love, a novel published in 2007 by Fulcrum Publishing. Callahan served as the Morgan S. Odell Professor of Humanities at Lewis & Clark College. He retired in 2015 after 48 years at the college. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.
