About This Item
Urbana, IL University of Illinois Press, 1988. Hardcover First Edition [1988]; Second Printing. Fine in Very Near Fine DJ: The Book is flawless; the binding the square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A handsome, like-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing no discernible imperfections. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Virtually 'As New'. The DJ shows only an inventory sticker affixed to the lower rear panel (this could probably be easily removed, but as we would have to remove the mylar-cover to do so we have decided to leave that to the discretion of the buyer); unclipped; mylar-protected. Attractive and intact; close to "As New". NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.25 x 6.25 x 1.25 inches). 280 pages. Index. Language: English. Weight: 23 ounces. First Edition [1988]; Second Printing. Hardback with DJ. John F. Callahan is the literary executor for Ralph Ellison, and was the editor for his posthumously-released novel Juneteenth. In addition to his work with Ellison, Callahan has written or edited numerous volumes related to African-American literature, with a particular emphasis on 20th century literature. Callahan is the author of A Man You Could Love, a novel published in 2007 by Fulcrum Publishing. Callahan served as the Morgan S. Odell Professor of Humanities at Lewis & Clark College. He retired in 2015 after 48 years at the college.
