In 1812 Anna Maria King, daughter of the former Governor of the colony of New South Wales, married Hannibal Macarthur nephew of the pastoralists John and Elizabeth Macrthur. They set sail for New South Wales where they established their home at Parramatta, "The Vineyard". This home became the centre of an active and fashionable society and to run this fashionable home Anna Maria depended heavily on a letter written by an older and sincere friend, who was older and more experienced in the running of the household; the letter (along with some additions) is reproduced in this book. A little softening of the back strip edges with rubbing of the book corners. Some dust marks to the top text edge. A little creasing of the dustwrapper edges with fading of the back strip.
