New York: Harper & Brothers, 1938. Copyright 1938, this book most likely from the early 1940s. Illustrated with a full color frontis and eight additional plates in black and white. Black cloth with color illustration mounted on the front cover, gilt spine lettering, no dustjacket. Fair to good with some edgewear, spine lettering clearly legible, good hinges, text block sound, pages slightly age-yellowed but clean, gift notation dated 1943 on front free endppaer, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped [1.25] and has considerable wear and chipping, mainly to the top edges and spine foot, fair only.. Hard Cover. Fair/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain, is a popular 1876 novel about a young boy growing up in the antebellum South on the Mississippi River in the town of St. Petersberg, based on the town of Hannibal, Missouri.
