London: Studio Limited, 1925. Limited edition. Hardcover. Very good. History of ships and explorers as shown in art from the 1400s through the age of the clipper ships. 4to, ix, 40 pp, plates cxv, color and b&w throughout, illustrated end papers, top edges gilt. Limited edition of 1,750, of which this is number 602. Color plates are tipped in, with tissue guards. Purple cloth covers with gilt title on front cover above gilt illus of mermaid; gilt title on spine. Cloth covers are sunned around edges and spine has faded to tan; corners lightly bumped. Internally, pages lightly toned, with withdrawn stamp on title page, and evidence inside back cover of removal of library card sleeve.
