"Drafted into the Marine Artillery the author was in Toulon during the British/Spanish occupation, fought in the Glorious First of June, and at Quiberon Bay in 1795. He was on both the unsuccessful French expeditions against Ireland and finally got back to France on a Privateer, between the two expeditions he visited the British fleet during he Nore mutiny and became a friend of Parker, the leader of the Mutineers.
