Boston: Little, Brown. A scarce small book about 3 real elephants that 70,000 children contributed money to purchase for Boston's Franklin Park Zoo. Although most of the stories in the book are true, the author has embellished the tale with conversations between the beasts and other doings. Well-illustrated in multi-colors by noted artist Atwood. Nice copy; red cloth covers w/pictorial label, corners & spine ends lightly bumped, the tissue guard over the frontis has a short tear & the former owner's name is at the top of the FEE. Rather scarce! OUT OF PRINT. . Very Good++. Hardcover. First Edition. 1915.
