Lansdowne Press, Melbourne, 1966. Reprint. Hardcover. Fine/Good. VIII,128pp., translated by Rodney Livingstone, edited, with preface and notes, by Leslie Bodi, references, notes. Within the text there are four black and white portrait plates. Green coloured boards with gilt writing on spine. The bottom 2 corners are slightly rubbed and there is minor shelf wear evident on bottom edges of the book. Previous owners name on the free front endpaper. There are some dust marks on top paper edge. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing and ship with a figure in the stern, decorated background. Red and black writing on front panel and spine. There is some minor rubbing of the corners and there is some foxing visible particularly along the fold over creases and along top edge of dustwrapper ( more visible on verso ). There are some grubby marks to the front and back panels of the dustwrapper. This novel was first published in German in 1801. and in this translation brings, for the first time in English, the first novel in which Australia was used as a background.
