New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1938 WYSIWYG pricing--no added shipping charge for standard shipping within USA. Dark blue cloth, gilt titles on frotn board & spine, ix, 390 pp, index. Bottom corners bumped, titles partly rubbed off spine. DJ edge-worn, moderately rubbed, slightly chipped; in Brodart archival cover Promotional pamphlet "The American Road," containing newspaper notices of some of the addresses collected here, is laid in (fine condition). Hoover's collected speeches deal mostly with policies of the Franklin Roosevelt administration, including the New Deal, financial system reform, the gold standard, deficit spending, the bank holiday, taxes, administration of relief, Supreme Court appointments, and foreign policy. Many of them are primarily comments on how the expansion of Federal power affects American ideals such as freedom of speech, assembly, etc. Shipping weight 2 lbs.. 5th ptg. . VG/VG+. 21½ X 15 cm.
