Begins: "Today, we are assembled, as the patrons and friends of literature, to aid an infant seminary, whose birth has been involved in a long night of numerous and almost appalling difficulties....Here, lately a wilderness, has the sun of science began [sic] to dawn....When our situation this day is compared with that of Oxford in Old England or with that of Camridge of New England, we are the rough and poverty stricken and the half tutored barbarians...." Sewn signatures, untrimmed and unopened as issued. 9" x 6" Miami University of Ohio has been called the Yale of the Early West. [American Imprints 21440].
