Centenary collection of the works of legendary Polish national poet and patriot Adam Mickiewicz (1798-1855), edited and with an introduction by Stanislaw Helsztynski. A wealth of both prose and poetry works, including a synopsis with substantial chapters from "Master Thaddeus," (Pan Tadeusz) plus a collection of informative commentaries on Mickiewicz by a number of his contemporaries. Illustrated with thirteen full-page b&w plates, among them a portrait of Mickiewicz commissioned by Goethe, a portrait of Celina Mickiewicz, the poet’s wife, the monument to the Polish legion in Rome, and the monument to Mickiewicz in Paris. Text in English. Very Good, decorative embossed gray cloth, gilt titles. Clean, crisp, sharp, no ownership signatures or any other markings of any kind.
