Editaque per Bernardum Galura.Pars Prima" Size 8vo, 8" x 5.25". 448 pp. Volume One only (out of three). Edited by Bernhard Galura. Three-quarter bound in contemporary brown calf over marbled boards. Decorated tan leather title label on spine. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, as well as an engraved coat of arms and borders at tops of the first pages of the main text. The boards are slightly rubbed, with slight wear to the corners, the spine is only slightly worn at the edges. First published at Paris in 1689, Ruinart's "Acta Martyrum" is one of the most popular editions of "Acts of the Martyrs" ever written - and the one whose authority has been most criticized by scholars. An ex-library copy, with sticker and stamp at base of spine and also on front end paper. Previous owners' names also on front end paper and pastedown.
