About This Item

New York: Wilson-Erickson, Inc, 1936. Reprint. Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Very Good+/Good. Louis Palenske (photographs). 4to. Pp. xviii, 192. Frontis. site of Sutter's Mill black & white photo. Illustrated with black & white photo reproductions. Foreword and epilogue by Rufus Rockwell Wilson. Red moiré-pattern cloth, titles stamped in gilt on the cover and spine. Lower corner bumped, head edge lightly soiled, leaves minimally age toned. In the salmon-colored dust jacket, titles printed in black: edges and corners chipped, a two-inch closed tear to the front panel near the spine tail, spine a bit darkened. A fine reprint of Delano's classic 1853 account of his 1849 journey to California, with the addition of splendid 1930s photos from the route.

Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
