London: J. Nichols and Son, 1824. VG book that has been rebound in brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine. All illustrations and fold-out maps are intact. Pages have some foxing, top front corner is bumped, cloth shows very light wear, leaf that hold pp. 69-70 has very thin missing strip at top of page that does not affect text, and plate between pp. 94 and 95 has short ink note on its back. Book was in the special collections of a major university library, but has no library markings save for three erased pencil underlinings on title page. . Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Lewis, George. Ex-Library.

First Edition; Demy 8vo; pp. [viii], 344; engraved frontispiece, text with three full page engravings, and two folding plans, bound in half black leather, with marbled boards, title lettered in gilt on spine, raised bands, spine with gilt decoration, bookplate of M & R Disney Davidson on front endpaper, very good copy. Thurtell and Hunt were tried for the murder of William Weare, the crime gained a great deal of attention and was the subject of numerous books and stage plays. It is commemorated by the rhyme They cut his throat from ear to ear, His head they battered in, His name was Mr. William Were, He lived in Lyons Inn.
