About This Item

Forgotten Books, 2018-04-19. Paperback. Very Good. Forgotten Books [Published Date: no date listed, circa 2018]. Softcover. 346 pp, plus and additional 83 pages of "Extracts from Mr. Brainerd's Journal comprising the most material things in that publication." This is a facsimile reprint of an edition printed by Leonard Worcester dated 1793. It is a copy from the library of a theological Seminary and is subject to all of that copy's imperfections as well as to any imperfections made in the making of the facsimile. The binding itself is in very good condition with light bumping to edges and light overall scuffing. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. NO remainder marks. David Brainerd (1718 - 1747) was an American missionary to the Native Americans who had a particularly fruitful ministry among the Delaware Indians of New Jersey. During his short life he was beset by many difficulties. As a result, his biography has become a source of inspiration and encouragement to many Christians. Missionaries such as William Carey and Jim Elliot, and Brainerd's cousin, the Second Great Awakening evangelist James Brainerd Taylor (1801 - 1829) have been motivated by the ministry of David Brainerd.
