Forest Press, 1971 4to (26 cm), VII, 529 pp. Publisher's cloth, all edges painted blue (binding slightly stained at the bottom corner, ownership entry on the front free endpaper). The Dewey Decimal Classification is a proprietary library classification system which allows new books to be added to a library in their appropriate location based on subject. It was first published in the United States by Melvil Dewey in 1876. The purpose of this abridgment has been to provide a short form of the Classification adapted to the needs of small and slowly growing libraries.
