About This Item
Marjorie Bull. Abraham de Smidt was a topographical draughtsman and many of his South African landscapes reflect his journeys around the country as a surveyor. He was renowned for his landscape painting (he was a pupil of Thomas Bowler) and active in the fine arts exhibitions in the mid-1800s. Included is a catalogue of paintings of which 26 are reproduced in colour and 30 in black and white. There are a further 47 illustrations in black and white. Some foxing to front and rear prelims. 164 Pages. Contents clean and binding sound. 1st Edtion. Condition: Good-. Dust jacket: Good-. Some light edge-wear. Foxing to verso. Binding: Hardcover. Some mild edge-wear.
