The Able McLaughlins: stated FIRST EDITION with its original DJ. DJ: it has minor wear to the corners that match the book, there is detachment of the back cover with its flap, there is no book sellers reorder printed(of course I have only seen one), but the people I bought it from had no clue of its value, so I have to say this DJ and its wear MATCHES pattern on the book. It is a poor rated DJ but there is one. The Book: There is only minor shelf wear- the spine ends, no markings inside- no names etc. Very tight-clean-square. But it still has the cheap bindings of the stated first editions and that linen covering, nothing like the trade editions, of course these were Advanced Reading Copies(critics or authors) or Pre-orders of this Harper Prize Novel Contest winner, then won the Pulitzer Prize 1924(7th awarded)for a Novel. When the book is standing opened up, there seems to be a semi crease on the spine(see Photos) and the mark on the bottom(another top) minor bumping to both.

BONUS BOOK #1: The Law And The McLaughlins: Book:VG-NF Green cloth covers with gold titles on the spine(beautiful) light bruising to the very ends of the spine, no wear that I can see, no markings inside, clean-square, tight book, 1936 stated FIRST EDITION. DJ: Poor, price clipped, with small tears, chipping, wear, but more than 96% complete. This was Margaret Wilson's last adult Novel (and she released a children's novel in 1939) finally a follow up book to her 1923 award winning Novel the Able Mclaughlins(better late than never). Making Jean McLaughlin a strong, intelligent and strong willed like Margaret Wilson herself was.

BONUS BOOK #2: It's a throw away to me but it has significance in the authors real life. This is one of 2(the 1st one is very very hard to find anywhere in the world-The Dark Duty) novels about the prison system in Britain, and also a non-fiction book about reform, etc. The Valiant Wife: DJ: has small tears, shelf wear and wear to the spine area, I don't see a price but it has no indentation for a book club and the Main Title page has the Roman Numerals for 1935, but no printing info. has some staining on the covers which could have been mold(I will seal this in plastic just in case). Book: has minor tear spine area, but nice gold lettering on the spine, still a handsome copy.

Bonus book #3: The Kenworthys,3rd Printing with a decent Dustjacket, authors 2nd novel, Good to VG both the book and DJ.

Bonus book #4: The Painted Room, sequel to The Kenworthys book is Good, DJ is fair, stated first edition.

Shipping is included,(The Able McLaughlins will be shipped Registered Mail to the Continental USA, so expect at least a week to receive, because it is under lock and key the whole way.The bonus books will be media mail. Other locations in the world are paid for by the buyer and extra charges added.

Description:
Los Angeles:: Black Sparrow Press,, 1968.. First Printing of the First Paperback Edition. A Very Good plus copy of this 2nd state of the paperback issue where the misspelling on the front cover has been corrected with a white label. According to Krumhansl there were only 18 copies of the 1st state with the misprint and 747 copies of the 2nd state. There were also 75 hardcover copies. There is a touch of wear to spine. There are no names or markings to text. 89 pages. In this early collection of poems, Bukowski revisits some of his earlier subjects, but instead of his previous surrealistic mode his work explodes with verbal pyrotechnics shedding a fresh light on his own version of the "lower depths."

New York: Rinehart & Company, 1948. First Edition. Original Wraps. Very Good. Advanced Review Copy in self wrappers. A Very Good copy of this scarce edition of Mailer's first novel. Book appears gently read, with concave spine and gentle rubbing to edges of the wraps. Faint odor and mild soiling to book, but no internal markings or major blemishes. A high spot of military literature, the gritty account of a recon platoon scouting an enemy position during WWII. Raoul Walsh directed the 1958 film of the same name starring Aldo Ray, Cliff Robertson and Raymond Massey. Additional photos available upon request. Very Good.

Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process.
