New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1939. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. First edition, Advance Review Copy (featuring the seal on the title page but no A; second printings were noted as such). Foreword by Carl Sandburg. Cover by Norman Rockwell. A small imperfection in the cloth on the front cover, spine titling with two tiny rubbed spots, modest offsetting on the endleaves and one page spread with offsetting from something once laid in, a just about near fine copy in a rubbed and worn, about very good dust jacket with light even soil and several tiny nicks. Review copy with the slip laid in. A Pulitzer Prize-winning play that featured Raymond Massey as Lincoln. He reprised the role in the 1940 John Cromwell-directed film with Ruth Gordon as Mary Todd Lincoln. A presentable copy of a book that was issued with a jacket prone to wear.
