Medina, OH: A.I. Root Company, 1905. Tall 8vo. [8], 536 pp. With 100’s of text illustrations & photo illusts. Black embossed cloth, cover art of bee in gilt on front, gilt decorative lettering on spine, lettering & decoration in blind on covers (minor spotting to upper fore-edge, minor dustsoiling), still VG. Early printing of this excellent handbook for the bee keeper. This 1908 edition has been substantially revised and expanded with many new articles, many more biographical references of famed beekeepers, new equipment & techniques, and more. Amos Root (1839-1923) was an intrepid and innovative inventor, marketer, and entrepreneur who founded the Root Company which manufactured beehives and beekeeping equipment, and who improved removable frames so honey could be more easily harvested. The company is still in operation in Medina, OH.
